Installation University
1. Safety Protocols & Pre-Installation Check
Before unboxing Yuanhui industrial fixtures, verify the site conditions. LED drivers are sensitive electronic devices; improper grid conditions can cause immediate failure.
Never connect the LED load to the driver while the driver is powered on. This creates a voltage spike that will destroy the LED chips immediately. Always turn off the main breaker before wiring.
Pre-Check Checklist:
- Voltage Verify: Confirm grid voltage matches the driver label (e.g., 100-277V vs 347-480V). Connecting 480V to a standard driver will cause catastrophic explosion.
- Transient Check: If installing in a facility with heavy motors (CNC, Cranes, Welding), ensure external Surge Protection Devices (SPD) are installed on the distribution panel.
- Inspection: Check specifically for “transportation rattle.” Shake the fixture gently; if you hear loose screws inside, do not install.
2. Wiring Diagram: 0-10V Dimming
Standard industrial dimming uses a 5-core cable configuration. The most common failure mode is shorting the low-voltage dimming wires (DIM+/DIM-) with high-voltage AC lines.
5-Core Cable Standard (IEC/UL)
Critical Installation Rules for 0-10V:
- Isolation: If you are NOT using dimming, you must cap the Purple and Gray wires separately with wire nuts. Do not twist them together (this will force the light to 0% brightness). Do not leave them touching the metal housing (short circuit).
- Polarity: 0-10V is DC voltage. Reversing polarity will simply result in the light staying at 100% or 0%, but usually won’t damage the driver.
- Class 1 vs Class 2: Most 0-10V wires in our fixtures are Class 2 (Low Voltage). Do not run them in the same conduit as high-voltage mains unless the cable insulation rating allows it (check local electrical codes).
3. Wiring Protocol: DALI / DALI-2
Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) offers individual fixture control. Unlike 0-10V, DALI is digital and non-polarized.
- Polarity Free: You cannot mess up DA+/DA-. The driver auto-detects polarity.
- Topology: Supports Star, Daisy-chain, or Tree topology. (Ring topology is NOT allowed).
- Cable Length: Max 300 meters from the DALI controller to the last fixture (using 1.5mm² cable) to prevent voltage drop below 9.5V.
4. Mechanical Mounting: Industrial High Bays
Proper mechanical fixation is crucial for safety, especially in vibration-prone zones (factories with stamping presses) or areas with thermal fluctuation.
Option A: Suspension Chain (The Warehouse Standard)
- Drill into the ceiling truss or concrete. Install an expansion hook capable of holding 4x the fixture weight (Safety Factor 4.0).
- Attach the supplied chain to the fixture’s eye-bolt. Torque the eye-bolt to 15Nm.
- CRITICAL: Use pliers to crimp the “S” hooks closed. Open hooks can vibrate loose over time.
- Attach the secondary safety cable (steel wire) to a separate structural point, not the same hook as the chain.
Option B: Surface Bracket (Low Ceilings)
When mounting directly to the ceiling, you must maintain a minimum 100mm air gap behind the driver box. Yuanhui brackets are designed with this offset. Do not remove the bracket to flush-mount the driver against insulation material; this will trigger Over-Temperature Protection (OTP) and cause the light to shut off.

Defining the standards of industrial lighting. Understand the metrics that matter.
IP Ratings: IP65 vs IP67 vs IP69K
The Ingress Protection (IP) code is often misunderstood. For industrial lighting, higher isn’t always better; it depends on the application.
| Rating | Definition | Target Application |
|---|---|---|
| IP65 | Low-pressure jets (6.3mm nozzle). | General Warehousing, Workshops. |
| IP66 | High-pressure jets (12.5mm nozzle). | Outdoor Floodlights, Coastal Areas. |
| IP67 | Immersion (1m depth for 30 min). | Ground Recessed, Flood-prone areas. |
| IP69K | High-temp (80°C) steam jets @ 100 bar. | Food Processing (Washdown). |
Note: Our standard Tri-proof lights are IP66. Our specialized Food series is IP69K.
IK Impact Ratings (IEC 62262)
IK ratings measure kinetic impact resistance. In a factory with forklifts or a sports hall with balls, low IK ratings lead to immediate breakage.
- IK07 (2 Joules): Protected against a 0.5kg object dropped from 40cm. Standard for office panels.
- IK08 (5 Joules): Protected against 1.7kg dropped from 30cm. Minimum for industrial use.
- IK10 (20 Joules): Protected against 5kg dropped from 40cm. Mandatory for Vandal-Proof Outdoor and Sports applications.
Yuanhui High Bays use Polycarbonate or Tempered Glass to achieve IK08/IK10.
Color Consistency: MacAdam Ellipse (SDCM)
Have you ever seen a row of lights where some look pinkish and others greenish, even though they are all “4000K”? This is a binning issue.
SDCM (Standard Deviation Colour Matching) measures this variance:
- 1-Step: No visible difference (Lab standard).
- 3-Step: Virtually invisible to human eye. Yuanhui Standard.
- 5-Step: Noticeable difference. Common in cheap commercial LEDs.
- 7-Step: Very obvious mismatch.
UGR (Unified Glare Rating)
Glare isn’t just annoying; it reduces productivity and safety. UGR is a calculated value based on the room layout.
Common Benchmarks (EN 12464-1):
- UGR < 19: Precision work, Electronics Assembly, Drafting. (Requires Micro-Prismatic Lens).
- UGR < 22: Fine industrial work.
- UGR < 25: General warehousing and heavy industry.
We offer Low-Glare Linear Lights specifically for assembly lines.
Troubleshooting & Repair
Identify the root cause before requesting an RMA. 90% of issues are installation-related.
- Loose Neutral: In 3-phase systems, a floating neutral can cause voltage fluctuation. Check the distribution board.
- Dimmer Incompatibility: Are you using a TRIAC dimmer on a 0-10V driver? This will cause strobing. Ensure wiring matches the protocol.
- Over-Temp Protection: Is the fixture covered by insulation? The driver might be cycling on/off to protect itself from heat (OTP).
This is usually due to the “Vacuum Effect.” When a hot light turns off, it sucks air in. If the cable gland isn’t sealed, it sucks water through the wire.
Fix:- Check the Breather Valve. Is it painted over or blocked by dirt?
- Verify cable diameter matches the gland spec (e.g., PG11 gland needs 5-10mm cable). Using a thin cable creates a gap.
In 0-10V logic, an “Open Circuit” (wires not connected) = 100% Brightness. A “Short Circuit” (wires touching) = 0% Brightness.
- If lights are stuck at 100%, your purple/gray wires are likely disconnected or broken.
- If lights are stuck at 0%, the wires are likely shorted together or touching the housing.
Are you in a factory with Sulfur or Chlorine? Standard LEDs use silver plating which turns black (sulfurization) when exposed to sulfur gases.
Solution: You need our Harsh Environment Series with gold-wire bonding and gas-tight PMMA sealing. Standard lights will not survive this environment.
